Love with a Chance of Drowning

I recently read Love With a Chance of Drowning by Torre DeRoche. Torre’s website is www.fearfuladventurer.com which I LOVE for the name as much as the content.

Torre has taken some pretty big (but calculated) risks in her travels and not without a great deal of fear. This travel memoir is about the time she sailed across the Pacific in a small boat with her relatively new boyfriend despite the fact that she has a phobia of deep water and gets seasick. She tackled her fear head-on and pushed past it to have amazing experiences that she could not have had any other way. THAT is badass.

Love With a Chance of Drowning doesn’t downplay the negatives of her adventures – there were truly some scary, dangerous, and wholly unpleasant moments – but it shows that those things can be endured. I don’t think I’ll be setting off on a small boat across the ocean any time soon but I still found this book to be inspirational. I’d definitely recommend it, and Torre’s blog, to my fellow wanderlusters.
